Lesson 4 · A · Answerable · 6:18
Can AI quote your website?
AI lifts one clear answer from a page, not the whole page. Five ways to give it one.
Summary
AI lifts the answer, not the page
A is for Answerable: once AI can read your site, can it pull a clear answer from it? AI doesn't recommend a whole page. It takes the one piece that answers exactly what it was asked. So every important page needs pieces that are easy to lift.
A page AI can't use, and one it can
"Moisturiser. Shop now. Our amazing moisturiser is perfect for all skin types" gives AI nothing to quote. Compare: "An oil-free gel moisturiser for oily skin in hot weather, 450 pounds for 50 ml", followed by how fast it absorbs, its ratings, and delivery times and areas. Every line answers a question a buyer might ask. A Princeton University team found that adding statistics, quotes and sources raised a page's visibility in AI answers by up to 40%.
1. Put the answer first
Say what it is, who it's for and the price at the very top. The title says what it is, the description gives the key facts, the heading names the product, and the first line answers the question directly. The story, the details and the reviews come below. AI uses the start of a text most reliably, and the title and description are all it sees before it decides to open the page.
2. Swap vague words for facts
"Fast absorbing" becomes "absorbs in about 30 seconds". "Fast delivery" becomes "2 to 4 days across Cairo and Giza". "Perfect for all skin types" becomes "for oily skin, not for dry skin". A specific fact is something AI can quote. A vague claim isn't.
3. Keep the facts in text
AI reads text. If a fact only appears inside an image or a video, AI may never see it. Make sure every detail a buyer needs is also written on the page.
4. Use tables for specs and comparisons
The same facts are far easier to read in a table than in a paragraph, for a person and for AI. Spec and comparison tables are the easiest thing on a page for AI to lift.
5. Give AI proof
Sum up your reviews in a short line of text, add customer quotes, and publish research and data only you have. Name the author and give a source for every number, so AI can check that what you say is credible.
Where to start
You can't fix 300 pages at once. For an online store, start with product pages, category pages, and your shipping, returns and FAQ pages. For B2B and service businesses, start with service and feature pages, help-centre articles, and pricing and integration pages. Better still, check which pages AI already cites for your target prompts and build those first. The quickest win is a page that already gets impressions in Google Search Console but isn't cited by AI. It's close. Fix it first.
Key takeaways
- 01
What does AI take from a page?
One passage, not the page. It lifts the clearest piece of text that answers the exact question it was asked.
- 02
What makes a page quotable?
The answer comes first: what it is, who it's for and the price, in the title, the description and the opening line.
- 03
What kind of content gets quoted?
Specific facts in text, customers' questions as headings, and tables for specs. Adding statistics, quotes and sources raised AI visibility by up to 40% in a Princeton study.
- 04
How does a page earn AI's trust?
With proof: a short summary of your reviews, customer quotes, data only you have, a named author, and a source for every number.
- 05
Which pages should you fix first?
Product, category, shipping and returns pages. The fastest win is a page Google already shows people that AI doesn't cite yet.

0:00In the last video, we made sure AI can read your website. Now the next question. Once it's there, can it actually pull a clear answer from your pages? This is A for answerable. Here's where we are in the NAMED framework. And navigable is done.
0:10Today's A. Answerable. Can AI pull a clear answer from your pages? Then we'll move on to the next ones. Here's the one idea to remember from this video. AI lifts the answer, not the page.
0:35AI is looking for the answer on the internet. It doesn't recommend your whole page. It takes one clear piece from your page that is exactly answering what it is looking for. So every important page needs pieces that are easy for the AI to lift. Let's see what that means. One asks AI for a moisturizer for oily skin.
0:57On the left, a typical product page. Moisturizer, shop now, our amazing moisturizer is perfect for all skin types. There's nothing there AI can quote. On the right side, the same exact product page, but it is more optimized for AI answers. An oil-free gel moisturizer for oily skin in hot weather. 450 pounds for 50 milliliters and more other details containing how long does it get absorbed and the ratings and reviews.
1:32It also includes the delivery dates and how long does it take to be delivered and the locations. Every line answers a question a buyer might ask. That's the strong page AI can actually use. That is a page AI is going to answer from. And there's also strong research behind this. A team of Princeton University tested what happens when pages add statistics, quotes, and strong sources.
2:00The AI visibility in answers went up by almost 40%. And something else to add here that there are five different ways to make a page actually more answerable. Most important step to make your pages easier for AI to answer from is that they are focused on being answered first. Put the answer at the very top. What it is, who it's for, and the price. Your title says what it is.
2:39Your description gives the key facts. Your heading names the product. And your first line answers the question directly. For oily skin, 450 pounds and everything else. The story, the details and the reviews come below. Research shows AI models use information at the start of a text most reliably.
2:58So it is mostly skimming to your page and probably reading the top of the page in more details. And remember from the second video that I showed you, the title and descriptions are all the AI sees before it actually decides to open your page. So these needs to be on point and actually answering the question. The second or the third check you can actually do is giving AI facts it can quote. You need to swap the vague words inside your pages for specific ones. Fast absorbing becomes absorbs in about 30 seconds.
3:36Fast delivery becomes two to four days across Cairo and Giza. Perfect for all skin types becomes for oily skin. Not for dry skin. And AI writes these facts in text. If they only live inside an image or a video, they probably might not be able to read them. So you need to make sure that all the information is presented in a text format.
4:03Moving on to the next check, which is actually using table for specifications and comparisons. Here are the same facts presented differently. On the left side, there's paragraphs including the details of the product. And on the right side, the same thing as a table format. Even you are able to read it much more easily. Same thing goes for the AI.
4:26Tables and specifications and comparisons, specifications and comparison tables are the easiest way an AI can lift a page. Last thing is that you actually need to give AI proof so that it can actually trust your website. Sum up your reviews in a clear small text. Add customer quotes. Include your own research data. Data that is only unique to you, that the AI won't easily find somewhere else.
4:54Unique data, but it also needs to be credible. You should also add a named author and a source for every number so that the AI can actually make sure that every information that you're saying is extremely credible. So this brings us to the next question. Where do we start? You can't fix every single page of your 300-400 page website at once. You want to start with the low-hanging fruit, the most important ones for your website.
5:23For an online store, product pages, category pages, and your shipping returns and FAQs are where you should start. I know that you could be a lot, but these are the most effective pages for this case. For B2B and services companies, services and feature pages help center articles and pricing and integration pages are a better way to start. Even a better way, check which page AI actually cites from your target prompts, and build those first. And here's a quick win. Find a page Google already shows people.
6:04One that gets impressions inside of Google Search Console. But that AI doesn't cite. That page is close. Fix it first.
