Lesson 6 · E+D · Exact fit + Durable · 6:31
Stay the answer
AI picks the best fit, not the biggest brand. Five drivers that get you cited, and keep you there.
Summary
Exact fit and Durable
The last two NAMED checks. Exact fit is AI choosing your page as the best answer to the exact question it was asked. Durable is staying named over time, by keeping your content up to date. AI picks the best fit, not the biggest brand. Five drivers decide it.
1. Insight only you have
Give AI something no competitor's page has: your own test data, customers' before-and-after results, or an expert's view with quotes and numbers. If it can find the same thing everywhere else, it has no reason to choose you.
2. Keep it recent
AI keeps moving to newer, more up-to-date sources. Work done once a year and then left alone loses its place. Every couple of months, review your top pages and update the facts, the prices and the examples.
3. Write in an answer-ready format
As in Can AI quote your website?, make the headings the questions buyers ask, answer in the first line or two under each one, and keep to one idea per paragraph. A paragraph that tries to answer three questions answers none of them well.
4. Show expert credibility
Tell AI who wrote the page, what their role is and what experience they have, so it has a reason to trust the words on it. It's a long-standing SEO practice, and many brands still skip it.
5. Go deep on one topic
The most important driver. Instead of one page on sunscreen that covers twenty topics in a paragraph each, publish three, four or five focused pages, such as sunscreen for oily skin in summer. Each page takes one use case, answers it fully, and answers the follow-up questions too. Add your own insight to each one.
Key takeaways
- 01
What earns the citation?
Five drivers: insight only you have, recent updates, answer-ready formatting, a credible named expert, and depth on one topic.
- 02
What counts as insight only you have?
Your own test data, customers' before-and-after results, an expert's view with numbers: anything AI can't find on another page.
- 03
Why do pages stop being cited?
AI keeps moving to fresher sources. A page written once and never updated loses its place to newer ones.
- 04
What makes a page answer-ready?
Headings that are buyers' questions, the answer in the first line or two under each, and one idea per paragraph.
- 05
One broad page or several focused ones?
Several focused ones. "Sunscreen for oily skin in summer" beats "Everything about sunscreen".

0:00Welcome to the last video of the NAMED framework, where we will be talking about how can you give your AI the exact fit and also stay durable. So exact fit is about giving the AI the ability to choose your pages as the exact fit pages based on the answer that it's looking for. And durable is about staying named for a longer period of time. So it has to do more with optimizing your content and making it stay more recent. You need to know that AI picks the best fit, not the best brand. And here are the five drivers of AI citing your sources and making you durable and being the exact fit.
0:43So what earns the AI trust and citation here? You need to look at the insights that you have. So whether you have any proprietary insight no other page competitor or domain is giving the AI about this question that is trying to answer. You need to keep your content always very recent and have it presented in an answer-ready format. You also need to give the AI the ability to trust you through credibility sources, giving it like an expert guide and telling it that an expert is the one who wrote this. Why would it choose and trust the words that are coming out of this page and of this domain?
1:30And the last thing is actually having high level of topical depth as well. So let's look at the first driver that we have here which is having proprietary insights. So what does this mean in more details which is giving the AI something in your pages that no other competitor has. This could be let's say an example of your own test data, your own customer reviews before versus after using your product customer reviews, like giving them real results. You can also have your expert view on the specific topic for example with more quotations from this expert with more also numbers and statistics from this data, but on this part specifically the content that you publish on your own pages needs to be unique in a way that is able to give the AI more insights that it can't find on other pages. Second thing which has to do more with being durable which is content recency.
2:41You need to focus always on updating the content that you have on your own website. This is because the AI models tend to always change the sources which they are trying to decide from. They're always looking for more recent sources, more updated sources to look at rather than more outdated sources. So if you're someone who focuses on doing the work for maybe once a year and then just leaves it there that's actually the wrong approach here with AI. Your content needs to always be updated. You need to update the facts, the prices, the examples that you show, your view always the top pages that you have every couple of months.
3:21Try to look for things that you can do with them and improve it as well. Third driver that we can look at actually which is presenting the answers inside of your own pages in an answer ready format. We've talked this in more details in the answerability part, but it's also important to know here that this is very important for helping you become the exact fit where you have the pages that you have answer the questions that the AI is looking for inside the headings and the paragraphs inside the articles as well are giving the answer in the first at least a couple of lines and you have at least one idea per paragraph, not a single paragraph containing three to four different ideas trying to answer three to four different questions. The fourth driver actually that is extremely important and a lot of people miss which is having an expert credibility showing the AI that there's someone expert who has actually suggests this and has actually brought this paper. So if you have let's say an article that is being published about answering specific question, you need to tell the AI you actually publish this article.
4:27What do they know? What is their role and what is the experience that they have so that you can trust this person as an AI and as someone reading this source and it's also very common knowledge in SEO. And for the fifth driver and it's the most important of them in my opinion which is having a high level of topical depth. So if you look at high level of topical depth, let's say for example, you have something or topic related with sunscreen and sunscreen has a lot of different use cases based on different products inside of sunscreen instead of just publishing one single article on the sunscreens that you are selling to people, try and go in more details, publish different articles about different concerns to different set of people with different use cases for each of these. So instead of just publishing one article you would go across publishing three to four to five different articles and setting in depth more questions with more levels of details to every single use case.
5:39So if you look at the example that we have, you have a broad page here talking about sunscreen with 20 different topics and a paragraph for each. Instead, what is considered more in-depth which is publishing a specific page specifically for sunscreen for oily skin people in summer with only one single topic and every follow-up answer directly answers this specific topic for this specific page. And you should also try and go in more depth with adding personalized content as I said which is like the proprietary insights and all the other things which we covered previously but focus on going in more depth with the topics and the pages that you're trying to target. This is one of the most important insights that you should focus on.
